El caso ocurrió en la comunidad de Ignacio Zaragoza. Mercedes ‘N’, de 24 años, vivía con Víctor ‘N’ y tenía dos hijos. El 5 de abril, la madre de Víctor ‘N’ descubrió el cuerpo enterrado de la mujer.
Según el testimonio de algunos vecinos, una noche anterior se habían escuchado gritos y una fuerte discusión al interior del domicilio.
La madre de Víctor ‘N’ acudió al domicilio, preguntó por su nuera y el hombre le respondió que no sabía dónde estaba. Fue la mamá del agresor quien descubrió el cuerpo enterrado de la mujer en el patio.
Entonces, la familiar dio aviso a las autoridades para que procedieran a la detención de su hijo Víctor ‘N’.
Las autoridades informaron que el implicado fue localizado y arrestado. La Fiscalía de Chiapas dio a conocer que Víctor ‘N’ fue vinculado a proceso por su responsabilidad en el delito de feminicidio.
Mediante un comunicado, el organismo indicó que, «a través de la Fiscalía Contra Feminicidio en coordinación con la Fiscalía de Distrito Fraylesca, obtuvo del Órgano Jurisdiccional auto de Vinculación a Proceso en contra de Victor ‘N’ por su probable participación en el delito de feminicidio, cometido en agravio de Mercedes ‘N'».
